The first job was with The Wessex Electric Company as a Cashier 48-49.
The Company was Nationalised as The Southern Electricity Board. During the following period a fellow employee –Jim Cowan told me that I should take steps to prepare myself for the next job. So armed with this advice plus Uncle Ted’s book, I studied for the Electrical Domestic Appliance (EDA) Salesmanship Certificate which I passed in Charing Cross. I also took a Correspondence Course in Electrical Installations with The British Institute of Engineering Technology which resulted in a Diploma – and letters AMIET. At this point I was developing an idea that I would like to get into industry.
